Piezography Digital Negative
Piezography Digital Negative Systems are now compatible with the new PiezoDN software system that allows you to make your own alt process print linearizations. Our target is contact printed and measured with a supported spectrophotometer. The ink sets have changed over the years. In 2016, we now support making very high quality film with the standard Piezography ink set comprised of shades 1-6 (where GO is simultaneously printed during the inks and shade 1 is our Photo Black.)
In previous years, the Piezography digital negative ink sets used shades 2, 2.5, 3, 4.5 & 5. These legacy ink sets are also now supported with PiezoDN software using a new release of Methodology 3 "curves". You can upgrade either to the PiezoDN software for use with your legacy ink set, or to both the software and by replacing your 2.5 and 4.5 shades.
Essentially, with PiezoDN software, any Piezography ink set comprised of Shades 1-6 or 1-6 and GO can be linearized for literally any alternative process by you. The same inks can also be used to make Piezography prints. We will not further develop for the legacy ink sets and we urge you to come along for the ride with us using shades 1-6 and GO.
Because only these 7 ink positions are used, this means that a 4900, 7900, or 9900 printer with at least 7 working channels can be obtained (usually for free) and we can instruct you how to map out the non-working channels. These printers with one or more clogged channels are plentiful.
